Charlotte Danielson Framework

 

The framework & theory of Charlotte Danielson recognizes the crucial elements of teaching and the demands that go with it. Along with others, Danielson developed this framework in order to promote clear communication about effective teaching in the classroom.

The Danielson Framework is research-based and aligned to the INTASC standards. It is grounded in a productive and profitable view of both learning and teaching

 

The Framework includes four domains that teachers should be responsible while instructing throughout the day:

 

  1. Planning & Preparation: Teachers must demonstrate content knowledge, knowledge of their students (how they learn, what strategies are best for them, etc.), setting approptiate student, teacher, and classroom goals, & creating effective lessons and assessments.

  2. Classroom Environment: The teacher must create a suitable classroom environment, establish a love for learning, implement appropriate classroom procedures, & organize the space appropriately.

  3. Instruction: The teacher must show effective Communication with his or her students, implementing class duscussions, engaging students in the learning process, using ongoing assessment during instruction, & being flexible throughout the school day.

  4. Professional Responsibilities: The educator reflects on his or her teaching throughout and after the lesson, effectively communicates problems and/or achievements with families, praticipates in professional development, & shows professionalism throughout their career.
