Rubrics

A rubric is a composition of descriptors for criteria at different performance levels. Sometimes,  indicators are used under each descriptor to provide examples about what to look for when completing a project/assessment.

A well-written rubric instructs teachers on how to grade a project in the correct manner.

Poorly created rubrics kill student creativity because they demand analytical responses.

Good rubrics demand great results and give students the freedom to create these results.

Overall, if educators signal in their rubrics an effective, powerful goal, they free up creativity and initiative withing student learning.

Please view my example below of how to construct an effective rubric
